BBC Investigates Sexual Assault Allegations Against Russell Brand

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has announced an urgent investigation into allegations of sexual assault made against former employee and renowned British comedian and actor, Russell Brand. Brand, 48, who was previously married to U.S. singer Katy Perry, worked for the BBC on radio programs between 2006 and 2008.
The allegations came to light following Brand's denial of unspecified "very serious criminal allegations" just hours before the accusations of sexual assault, including rape, were published online by the Sunday Times and later aired on Channel 4 television.
These allegations are reported to have occurred between 2006 and 2013, with one woman alleging rape and another claiming that Brand assaulted her when she was only 16 and still in school.
Notably, two of the accusers have stated that the incidents took place in Los Angeles.
The BBC spokesperson issued a statement stating that they are taking the allegations seriously and are urgently investigating the issues raised in the documentary and associated reports.
Banijay UK, the production company behind a television show previously hosted by Brand, has also initiated an internal investigation in response to these serious allegations.
Women's charity Trevi, which supports women affected by violence and abuse, announced the termination of its association with Brand.
Similarly, talent agency Tavistock Wood released a statement indicating the termination of all professional ties with Brand.
In a notable turn of events, it was revealed that Brand had categorically and vehemently denied an allegation made against him in 2020. However, his previous denial is now being questioned in light of the recent allegations.
The Metropolitan Police in London has not received any reports related to these allegations but has urged anyone who believes they have been a victim of sexual assault, regardless of when it occurred, to contact the police.
The investigation into these allegations against Russell Brand is ongoing, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
